Frequently Asked Questions
- What's the Dew Circuit
Breakout?
Starting in 2003 as an online contest and evolving every year since then, MTV2 and Mountain Dew have teamed up to bring you a national battle of emerging artists! DCB discovers, supports and gives up-and-coming musicians a chance for their big break. Ever hear of Halifax, Hellogoodbye, Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday and Hawthorne Heights? They all got their big start with Dew Circuit. Even if you're not in a band, you have the power to determine the champion of Dew Circuit Breakout ’07.
- Can my band still
enter?
Band sign-up is now officially
closed. But, don’t fret, there will be tons of other opportunities
down the road for emerging artists on MTV2!
- Who picks the finalists/winners?
Twelve lucky bands were
hand-picked by MTV2's expert music and talent panel – from there,
the competition really begins! We'll set bands loose to the fans, who
will determine who's worthy and who's not. There are three eliminations
leading up to the Live Finale, where 2007's victor will be crowned.
Sounds cool, right? Did we mention that the eliminations are totally
controlled by the fans?? Check it out—Go Vote!!

- I signed up, and
didn’t make the cut this time, what now?
Bands that created profiles
during the official sign-up period, are still being considered for future
MTV2 payoffs. So, hold tight, we’ll keep bands posted as to what’s
coming up.
- Why should I become
a fan?
Registering and becoming an official fan allows your picture to appear next to all of your comments for every user to see. You will also have the chance for your comments appear on air during various programming and video blocks.
- What can I upload
to my artist page?
Here is your chance to
wow your fans and MTV2 execs alike. On your artist page you should upload
band characteristics that show your individuality and talent. It would
be great to see a band or artist photo, music tracks, videos of performances
and a band biography. That's right; bands should add all types of information
including comparisons if you think you sound like another musician,
your influences and descriptions of your music. The more you update
and the more information you provide, the better your band's artist
page will be.
- What file formats
can I upload?
You can upload music
with MP3 and WMA formats. Videos can be uploaded as MPG, MPEG, WMV,
MP4, and MOV and photos as JPG.
- I uploaded a song/video,
why isn't it showing up?

and what's acceptable and what's not, please see the Rules
